Athletics and P.E

Welcome back to my blog and today I am blogging about our P.E. Lately we have been practicing for our athletics day. My favorite event is high jump, long jump and 200m sprints. When I was year four and we did it in the 200m sprints final I got 1st out of the boys and in the 400m I got 2nd out of the year four boys. Conor G got first. I want to make it to inter school athletics for 200m, long jump, or high jump. Last year I went for 200m. To get to the finals you had to come in the top 2 from your heat. I was enjoyed after my race because I got 3rd and missed out by 1 placing. I was about 1 footstep or 2 behind him.

Here is a photo of me running today

.
For school we have been practicing throws, running and hop and skip jump. I hope that you have enjoyed I will see you next time make sure to leave a comment. See you next time

Art blog post 2016

This is my art work. I was in Mrs Carr's sketching group.I drew 3 pictures, 2 of them could be what ever you wanted but they couldn't be cartoon. And the other one had to be something inside the classroom. I did a dear skull and antlers on the big piece and then a shark and some scissors on the other. We had to think about the shadow and the shading. It took me about 2 and a half weeks to finish it.My favorite piece of art is the dear skull and antlers. We had three art groups. They were Giraffe painting, digital art and my one sketching and shading. I really had to work hard on it and my work paid off. I hope you like this post and my art, please leave a nice comment or some feedback for me for next time.

See you next time.

Lately for Litericy

Lately for literacy we have been working on our writing for our reports. I was in Mrs Carrs retell group but then Mrs Love made me change into her essay group. There were three groups to choose from. They were retell, essay and narrative. My goal for this piece of writing is to reach level four.We had to choose two animals that look the same but are completely different. The example was killer whale and blue whale. I chose american alligators and Nile crocodiles. I hope that I reach level four.
'
Here is a photo of my plan for my essay. On the left and right sides are the American alligators and the Nile crocodiles differences and also in the middle are there similarities.I had to do so much research that I even had facts on the back of the page.

Here is my writing
Compare and contrast essay on Nile Crocodiles and American Alligators (Cameron)

Introduction
You may think that Nile Crocodiles and American Alligators look and are the same, but they have many differences.

Similarities:

These creatures are both reptiles and are known as an apex predator and are on the top of the food chain. An apex predator is a adult animal that has no natural predator within the ecosystem. That includes a long list of razor clawed carnivores. These creatures are the apex predator because they are the one of the biggest and baddest creatures.

These reptiles mainly consume fish and will attack any other unfortunate animal to cross its path. Because of these deadly reptiles there have been 200-2,500 animal deaths a year. Some eat men. They both have vertical pupils that open in wide and low light, which allows them to be impressive nocturnal hunters.

They are both cold blooded and fierce. They have a muscular tale and a lumpy back. The have very sharp teeth and love to swim around in rivers and other places.

Differences:

Nile crocodile
A Nile crocodile is a very frightening reptile to come across. They can live up to a life span of 70-100 years. These creatures are also very fast. There top speed is 30-35 km per hour. A male adult can grow as long as 4.2 m, when a adult female can only grow to a length of 2.4-3.8 m. Nile Crocodiles mass is 220-550 kg (adult) Crocodyilies is the scientific name for the Nile Crocodile. There bite is the strongest and most powerful bite ever measured.

A nile crocodiles fourth tooth is always exposed. They are a greyish green colour with a big triangular snout. They are very intelligent and also love to swim and play in the water. If you got bite by one of these Nile Crocodiles, there razor sharp teeth would dig into your skin and tear you apart. They prefer coastal backish and saltwater habitats.Crocodile spends more time in the water than American Alligators. They are also more active.

Differences:

American Alligators
American alligators are very big and scary. They can grow up to sizes of 3.4m-4.6m (male adult)
And females can grow to 2.7m (adult) A male's mass is 250kg when a females is only 91 kg. There lifespan is 30-50 years.Male alligators actually use infrasound to attract females. They are also listed as the least concerned by the international union for conservation of nature. There family is Alligatoridae.

When cleaning Alligator pools, some zookeepers can tread on Alligators without electing a response. American Alligators tend to be darker in color than Nile Crocodiles. They have a broad rounded snout and are usually found in fresh water. The alligators upper jaw is wider than its lower jaw, and the teeth in the lower jaw fit into small depression in the upper jaw.

Conclusion
You may think that these creatures are the same, but up close their appearance and behavior are much different to each other.

Maths!

Today I will be explaning some maths! blog post

Here is a video of Camden and I showing 3 ways to figure out 58x4. We used place value, double and double and double and half.We used the app show me.We have been working on using our knowledge and our strategies to work out the equations. We got to choose from subtraction or multiplication.I found subtraction easy so I chose that first but then I changed my mind and chose multiplication because it was more challenging for me and I could also learn some new strategies.

Here is something that we learn on.
Read it
Think it
Solve it
Explain it

Here are the new Zealand coins. Here is an example. Steve went to the shop with $5 and spent $1.20c
This is also the change from the example. The change is $3.80.

Project Base Learning (PBL)

Welcome to my PBL blog post. I have made a handball slideshow. I have added the rules some questions and the answers. Also a player profile on the best hand ballplayer in the world. There are pictures of the goals, suits and players even the balls they use. I have been working on it for a while but I have finished it. I had to finish off some sentence starters. And I had to write down some of the learning muscles that I used.

Here is a sneak peek of one of my slides. It is a player profile on Ivano Balic (the best handball player in the world) I have also added a video of his top 10 goals.

Here is my PBL reflection.

OLYMPIC PBL REFLECTION
Project Topic:Handball

Photo/Screenshot of Project (insert below)

Finish these starters:
  • Something I enjoyed about my project was finding out new information about handball because I know much more about handball than I did when I started

  • The most challenging thing about my project was  understanding some of the words because some of the words I wasn’t able to pronounce.

  • The main skill I got better at was my digital skills I got better at them by using my computer more and finding some new things out that I could use.

  • Something interesting I learnt was How many handball teams there are in the world and that New Zealand are ranked 466 out of 475.

  • What I would most like to change about my project is make a model rather than a slide because I like to make things by hand and draw rather than by computer or device.

  • I would like to do my next PBL about boxing.

Choose three learning muscles and explain how you used them during your PBL.
Noticing because I had to make sure there weren't any mistakes and if there were fix them up

Perseverance because I had to keep persevering and going to other sites and sounding out some of the words.

Managing distractions because when someone was trying to get my attention I ignored them.

Create a Description of Your Project
This needs to have either video or audio. You can use any app you like. Include a link here. You will embed it as part of your Reflection PBL Blog Post.

I hope you enjoyed this post and I will see you next term. Have a good holidays! Bye!

Colour poem

This is my color poem.We had to choose a  color and use adverbs verbs and use them in sentences. It was pretty challenging finding some of the words but it was good because I learnt some new vocabulary along the way. My color was yellow, so here it is.

My color peom...

Yellow is the colour of ….....
A big long skinny banana sitting lonely in the fruit bowl
A little dandelion sitting patiently in the stiff grass
A swirly playground slide hanging from its frame
Pikachu running quickly down the road
The hurricanes top hanging stilly in the changing rooms
The big yellow sun sitting quietly in space

By Cameron Browning

Colour Poem

WALT to use descriptive language to help create an image (picture) in our reader's head

Success Criteria
  • Use adjectives to describe the noun
  • Use adverbs to describe the verb (describe how the action is happening) l
  • Use a range of verbs to explain what is happening
  • Use a range of nouns that help us identify with a colour

This is our success criteria.
I hope you enjoyed this post and i will see you next time.

Robotics, Week 1 and 2

Here is a photo of Khorteaz and I at robotics.
As you can see Khorteaz is holding our robot we made out of Lego. We made this in week one.In week two we made it move forwards and backward. In week three we get to make it turn 90,180 and 360 degrees. We might even have a competition.Hopefully we can be successful when we make it turn.
I thought that Khorteaz and I communicated and worked well with each other. Also I think we used our learning muscles. It is really fun learning about robots and how they work. This is the first time this year that we have done robotics. After we made our robots in week 1 we had to take them a part for the next group. We go mainly Wednesdays but sometimes Thursdays. We had to make sure that we used the right pieces, other wise we would have to go back and fix is all up.

News article

This is my news article about handball. It is from the Rio Olympics 2016 handball.

Norway go for their third gold

The women's reigning, and the European champions, Norway hunt for their third gold medal in a row on the 5th of August 2016. The Netherlands and the Brazilians women's team challenge Norway's dominance to stop them from winning a gold medal.

The Dutch side lost to them in the 2015 champions. The Dutch are the biggest Obstacle for Norway. The Brazilian team are mostly relying on their home crowd to help them take back the championship from Norway.Their captain Fabiana Diniz will retire after the Rio 2016 Olympics are over.Katrina Lunde, Kari Aalvik and Kristin Riegelhuth would become the only women in history to have won three Olympic gold medals.Confidence is high in the Dutch camp according to Michael Goos who thinks Norway Can be beaten, but hope to avoid them before the final.

By Cameron Browning

I hope you enjoyed that article.Lets see if Norway can really take home there third gold or if they can be beaten.Seen you next time.

Futsal nationals 2016

During the holidays I went to the Futsal nationals 2016. I was in the the U12 age group. In my team was me another Cameron,Christen (or Swiss that's his nick name),Koji,Jack,Alex,Max,Albert,Anchel (the goalie)Logan and Scott. We played ten games and lost them all because we had been playing with each other for seven weeks and the other teams had been together for 1-2 years.

I scored two goals one with my left foot (bad foot) and the other with my right foot from behind half way. I enjoyed playing in the team and would like to play in the nationals next year.

These are my futsal shoes they are Adidas ace 15.4 orange black and white futsal shoes. I bought mine from Craft N Hern. They are size 6. I was number nine and played at the back on the wing and up front. Futsal is 5 a side so we played 2 2 1 formation and also 3 1 1.

Passion projects part 2

This is a photo of my finished passion project.

. Under the big shark are a few little fish.in the top right is a smaller shark and in the corner is some rocks, sea weed and a angle fish. It took me a 5 weeks to draw a plan and make a finished copy because in the plan I changed a lot of things such as the size of the shark and adding the small shark and not as many fish in the background. Also the tuna and I moved the rock to the other corner and didn't add the crab.

This is my draft/plan.If you can see the faded line around the shark that is the actual size of my shark in the good copy.

Please leave in the comments what shark do you think is better out of the two big ones and the small one in the good copy.I hope you enjoyed this blog post.Make sure to leave a nice comment and I will reply to you.

This is my Passion Projects Reflection, hope you like it.

Please answer all of the following questions

Describe your passion project. What was your learning in it? What were you trying to produce? My passion project was shark drawing. I had a massive piece of paper to draw it on.In the background were fish rocks and sea weed.

How far did you get with your passion project? What would have helped you to get further? I finished my passion project to my personal best.

What was the most challenging part of your passion project?Coloring the background because it was a massive piece of paper.

What was surprising about your passion project? It turned out way better than I expected.

Did you follow your plan well? Why or why not?Yes, because each time we had passion projects I made sure I followed my plan step by step.

Which learning muscles did you use the most while you were working on your passion project? How did you use each one?My perseverance muscle and absorption because I got absorbed in my drawing and perseverance because I kept trying.

Which learning muscles did you find difficult to stretch during passion project time?                          Absorption because it was really loud and we were in a small area.

Include a picture/embedded link to your passion project

If you were allowed to pick a new passion project, what would you choose and why?Scooting because I have a good scooter and i’m into scooting.

What was your favorite part of passion projects?Seeing my plan and the final result.

The future zoo

Ring! Ring! “Bro come to the zoo for my birthday and make sure you bring a presant and were shorts ok Cam”.”Got it”.”Mum mum can I go to Amos’s birthday party at the zoo?”.”Sure Cameron”.”But first we need to get him a present”.We got him the new real madrid football suite.
Vroom vroom we hoped in the car and started the engine.”Lets go” I say. Finally we arrived. We hopped out of the car and we paid to go in.

Mum and I just walked around and tried to find Amos. About 2 minutes later then we found him and he was with Oscar, Brayden and Rory. So I said “happy birthday mate”.Any way we had a look around and came across a dabasouruas. It was a dinosaur that dabed. I enjoyed  looking at all the weird things, we even saw a zombie and unicorn joined to make a zombicorn. It wasn't like any old zoo with tigers. There tigers had a shark head with an elephant body. Some of the things were crazy but frightening. My favorite thing was probably the octopus goat.

He opened his presents and he got a real madrid football suite, a football, a bag of lollies with $50 bucks, and a ipad.
“Amos did you like your presents?” said his mum.”Yes” he replied. “although the bag of lollies could have been massive”.”But I still love my prezzies, thanks guys”. “Its ok bro”.After the prezzies we had a massive ice cream cake.”Thanks for the cake” I said. “Sweet as” said Amos’s dad. Out of nowhere our parents come to pick us up.”How was it said mum.”Fun we all replied”.
“See you later guys”I say.”Bye” they replied.

Passion projects

This is my passion project. It is a shark drawing. This is my plan. When I do the actual one it will be a lot bigger than this one now. I drew this shark all by myself and shaded it in. I really enjoy doing the passion projects. We go to our groups every day of the week apart from Monday and Tuesday. I cant wait to take it home, show my parents and hang it on my pin board with all my drawings. I am also drawing a background and coloring it blue. We have 5 weeks to complete our passion projects. We are allowed to choose what ever we want. Once it is done I will do another blog about this topic. I am blogging this because I have really enjoyed doing my passion project. I hope you enjoyed this post.

My reading task

I am blogging this because I enjoyed this task and learnt lots more things about space and new things I didn't know about.
This is my reading task. It is about black holes and stars. We had to write down five questions and search them up and answer them with as much detail as possible. It was kind of challenging at parts and others were easy as. It was an interesting task and now I know much more about black holes and stars there self. I wouldn't mind doing another task like this.

Lions- No escape

WALT- form questions based on what we have read.
WALT- research our own answers

Task- Write down 5 questions that have popped up for you as you are reading.
Write them here and research the answers. Explain the answer as well as you can.

1)Who first discovered black holes:
In 1916 Albert Einstein predicted black holes with his great general knowledge and theory of relativity.

2)Are black holes flat:
Black holes are really 4 dimensional. You may see drawings of black holes that are 2 dimensional but that is because us humans haven't discovered how to draw a black hole 4 dimensional on an piece of paper yet.

3)What's inside a black hole:
We have never seen what's inside a black hole because it is too dangerous to go near and if someone goes into one and get photos we would not be able to communicate with them.

4)Can anything escape from a black hole:
Nothing that falls into a black hole can come out because of its gravity is so strong it has to travel at 300,000 kilometers and that is the speed of light and even light cannot escape from it.

5)How long do stars live for:
A star with the mass of the sun will live for about 10 billion years. But it depends on their mass. The more massive the star the faster it burns its fuel supply.

Monster measure maths task

Monster measure
IMG_0275.JPG

This is my maths task. Sorry that the picture is not the clearest but we had to do some measurements on the monster on your right. Then we had to draw our own and write some questions down for a classmate to answer. Brayden answered my questions. I was a little mean and didn't let him use a ruler so he had to estimate. I enjoyed this task. My monster is called the pizza monster. We had to use a scale as well. A scale is when 1cm = 1m or 5cm = 1m.
