Athletics and P.E

Welcome back to my blog and today I am blogging about our P.E. Lately we have been practicing for our athletics day. My favorite event is high jump, long jump and 200m sprints. When I was year four and we did it in the 200m sprints final I got 1st out of the boys and in the 400m I got 2nd out of the year four boys. Conor G got first. I want to make it to inter school athletics for 200m, long jump, or high jump. Last year I went for 200m. To get to the finals you had to come in the top 2 from your heat. I was enjoyed after my race because I got 3rd and missed out by 1 placing. I was about 1 footstep or 2 behind him.

Here is a photo of me running today

.
For school we have been practicing throws, running and hop and skip jump. I hope that you have enjoyed I will see you next time make sure to leave a comment. See you next time

Art blog post 2016

This is my art work. I was in Mrs Carr's sketching group.I drew 3 pictures, 2 of them could be what ever you wanted but they couldn't be cartoon. And the other one had to be something inside the classroom. I did a dear skull and antlers on the big piece and then a shark and some scissors on the other. We had to think about the shadow and the shading. It took me about 2 and a half weeks to finish it.My favorite piece of art is the dear skull and antlers. We had three art groups. They were Giraffe painting, digital art and my one sketching and shading. I really had to work hard on it and my work paid off. I hope you like this post and my art, please leave a nice comment or some feedback for me for next time.

See you next time.

Lately for Litericy

Lately for literacy we have been working on our writing for our reports. I was in Mrs Carrs retell group but then Mrs Love made me change into her essay group. There were three groups to choose from. They were retell, essay and narrative. My goal for this piece of writing is to reach level four.We had to choose two animals that look the same but are completely different. The example was killer whale and blue whale. I chose american alligators and Nile crocodiles. I hope that I reach level four.
'
Here is a photo of my plan for my essay. On the left and right sides are the American alligators and the Nile crocodiles differences and also in the middle are there similarities.I had to do so much research that I even had facts on the back of the page.

Here is my writing
Compare and contrast essay on Nile Crocodiles and American Alligators (Cameron)

Introduction
You may think that Nile Crocodiles and American Alligators look and are the same, but they have many differences.

Similarities:

These creatures are both reptiles and are known as an apex predator and are on the top of the food chain. An apex predator is a adult animal that has no natural predator within the ecosystem. That includes a long list of razor clawed carnivores. These creatures are the apex predator because they are the one of the biggest and baddest creatures.

These reptiles mainly consume fish and will attack any other unfortunate animal to cross its path. Because of these deadly reptiles there have been 200-2,500 animal deaths a year. Some eat men. They both have vertical pupils that open in wide and low light, which allows them to be impressive nocturnal hunters.

They are both cold blooded and fierce. They have a muscular tale and a lumpy back. The have very sharp teeth and love to swim around in rivers and other places.

Differences:

Nile crocodile
A Nile crocodile is a very frightening reptile to come across. They can live up to a life span of 70-100 years. These creatures are also very fast. There top speed is 30-35 km per hour. A male adult can grow as long as 4.2 m, when a adult female can only grow to a length of 2.4-3.8 m. Nile Crocodiles mass is 220-550 kg (adult) Crocodyilies is the scientific name for the Nile Crocodile. There bite is the strongest and most powerful bite ever measured.

A nile crocodiles fourth tooth is always exposed. They are a greyish green colour with a big triangular snout. They are very intelligent and also love to swim and play in the water. If you got bite by one of these Nile Crocodiles, there razor sharp teeth would dig into your skin and tear you apart. They prefer coastal backish and saltwater habitats.Crocodile spends more time in the water than American Alligators. They are also more active.

Differences:

American Alligators
American alligators are very big and scary. They can grow up to sizes of 3.4m-4.6m (male adult)
And females can grow to 2.7m (adult) A male's mass is 250kg when a females is only 91 kg. There lifespan is 30-50 years.Male alligators actually use infrasound to attract females. They are also listed as the least concerned by the international union for conservation of nature. There family is Alligatoridae.

When cleaning Alligator pools, some zookeepers can tread on Alligators without electing a response. American Alligators tend to be darker in color than Nile Crocodiles. They have a broad rounded snout and are usually found in fresh water. The alligators upper jaw is wider than its lower jaw, and the teeth in the lower jaw fit into small depression in the upper jaw.

Conclusion
You may think that these creatures are the same, but up close their appearance and behavior are much different to each other.

Maths!

Today I will be explaning some maths! blog post

Here is a video of Camden and I showing 3 ways to figure out 58x4. We used place value, double and double and double and half.We used the app show me.We have been working on using our knowledge and our strategies to work out the equations. We got to choose from subtraction or multiplication.I found subtraction easy so I chose that first but then I changed my mind and chose multiplication because it was more challenging for me and I could also learn some new strategies.

Maths stage 6

Hi guys I'm back with another one. This blog post is about what I have been learning in maths in stage 6.
This term so far we have been learning about decimals and working out the change from money. On Tuesday we did a task about one of the rugby games between Australia and the best team ever, the All blacks. We are also learning on to go to our knoladge.
Here is something that we learn on.
Read it
Think it
Solve it
Explain it

Here are the new Zealand coins. Here is an example. Steve went to the shop with $5 and spent $1.20c
This is also the change from the example. The change is $3.80.

Project Base Learning (PBL)

Welcome to my PBL blog post. I have made a handball slideshow. I have added the rules some questions and the answers. Also a player profile on the best hand ballplayer in the world. There are pictures of the goals, suits and players even the balls they use. I have been working on it for a while but I have finished it. I had to finish off some sentence starters. And I had to write down some of the learning muscles that I used.

Here is a sneak peek of one of my slides. It is a player profile on Ivano Balic (the best handball player in the world) I have also added a video of his top 10 goals.

Here is my PBL reflection.

OLYMPIC PBL REFLECTION
Project Topic:Handball

Photo/Screenshot of Project (insert below)

Finish these starters:
  • Something I enjoyed about my project was finding out new information about handball because I know much more about handball than I did when I started

  • The most challenging thing about my project was  understanding some of the words because some of the words I wasn’t able to pronounce.

  • The main skill I got better at was my digital skills I got better at them by using my computer more and finding some new things out that I could use.

  • Something interesting I learnt was How many handball teams there are in the world and that New Zealand are ranked 466 out of 475.

  • What I would most like to change about my project is make a model rather than a slide because I like to make things by hand and draw rather than by computer or device.

  • I would like to do my next PBL about boxing.

Choose three learning muscles and explain how you used them during your PBL.
Noticing because I had to make sure there weren't any mistakes and if there were fix them up

Perseverance because I had to keep persevering and going to other sites and sounding out some of the words.

Managing distractions because when someone was trying to get my attention I ignored them.

Create a Description of Your Project
This needs to have either video or audio. You can use any app you like. Include a link here. You will embed it as part of your Reflection PBL Blog Post.

I hope you enjoyed this post and I will see you next term. Have a good holidays! Bye!
